The PEPA Conference May 2021 Case Study

PEPA logo

The Property Energy Professionals Association (PEPA) is a trade body which represents companies that are engaged in the provision of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and Air Conditioning Inspection Reports (ACIRs).

PEPA works closely with the various government departments i.e., Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), with reference to the association’s objectives.

What was the scenario before you started working together?

The PEPA Online Conference was first introduced to us by past clients Thornbury Associates who are in partnership with The SLC Association, who we first did an event for online in October 2020. Same, as our SLC association client; this was the first event the PEPA association had in their events calendar per annum but decided to bring their 2021 conference online.

They recruited our services as they had little knowledge on the technology and project management side of an online conference; with dealing with platform hosts and provider and required knowledge, confidence, and support in this area; to ultimately provide them with peace of mind of a successful delivery.

What were their goals?

Their goals for the conference were to ensure all members felt valued, were informed correctly by our speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors and that their members qualified for CPD points as this event was being accredited for those who attended and participated. Plus, this was a create pilot to see what interest was created from their first online conference and whether this model could be used in the future.

Why did they choose to work with you?

We believed they choose to work with Fab Events because of our relationship with our strategic partners and following the conference our client said:

“Zoe was invaluable to us before, during and after the PEPA Conference in May. This was our first time venturing into the online arena for our annual conference and Zoe was extremely efficient, the ultimate professional and very reassuring. Zoe researched the options and came up with a great company that fulfilled our needs at a very competitive price; the success of the conference was due in no small part to Zoe’s project management skills; she is great to have on board. I have no hesitation in recommending Zoe to other companies, you won’t regret it.

What was the process?

Before we started on the project, we liaised with our referral contact Thornbury Associates to ensure we delivered and painted the picture best for the client, with this being their first online event.

I was then able to speak with the board directly and all parties who were bringing this event together. In reference to the service, we provided was solely to support their in-house team with their event objectives to ensure the agenda was completed on time and on budget. Including such services as dry run support; on the day management, member surveys, tech support and follow up.

What were the results?

To show an example of how well received this support was by participants please refer to the following diagram on the participant feedback after the full conference was complete:
