Business planning is crucial for any entrepreneur, whether a young up start-up or an experienced owner. Which is a key topic we are discussing this month within the The Hub – Ask Zoe.
As, establishing a simple plan helps you to assess whether your business idea is sustainable and outlines how you are going to achieve your goals and targets.
As, writing an effective business plan allows you to detail:
- What you will do?
- How you will do it?
- Address any possible issues you will face.
Not planning can lead to significant mistakes and crucial to the success of your business. This is why when looking at an effective strategy for your business, marketing or event, it has to align and how you can ensure this happens is through a simple and effective plan in business.
Simple business plans are most effective to prevent potential hurdles in the coming year or when you are getting your company, event or marketing off the ground. You may not always want to invest a huge amount of time and resources in an enormous and complicated plan but a simple business plan will enable you to move forward.
A simple plan contains much of the same content of a standard business plan but some sections can be put on hold. For instance, the cash flow and balance sheet sections can be put aside and a greater emphasis can be placed on the market opportunity, demand and the market.
So, as we are discussing this topic a lot for December to get January 2022 off to the best start, here are four points to consider when planning effectively for 2022 in a simple way:
- Time – Place 90 minute per day or per week in your diary to plan effectively so you can explore all goals and scenarios. If you wish to learn more on this principle you can read ‘Eat That Frog’ by Brian Tracy on the 90 minute ratio.
- Research – Look for gaps and opportunities with your goals to ensure you have a good understanding of your market place. Your research will ensure you understand the internal and external impacts effecting your business and how to excel.
- Vision – When creating your plan or strategy, think BIG and think of the milestones you wish to reach every quarter. Our number top tip when considering your vision is to ensure you are included within it, as your vision has to bring fulfilment on all levels to make the pillars and goals to achieve worthwhile.
- Take Action – Ensure your goals are measurable and you place milestones every 90 days to ensure you get to where you want be whether this be in 12 months or 60 months, depending how far in advance you like to plan.
As a simple plan will ensure that there is a good view of the business opportunity for 2022 and an assessment of whether it is viable or not.
